Arch Avenger, the horse that helped this blog get its start as a yearling, will try a route Saturday at Gulfstream Park after a speed-and-fade eighth-place finish in his first out.
For those who don’t know the story, the first non-introductory post for this blog was about a scary moment in the sales ring where a yearling kicked one of the ring posts and, while in the ring, started to favor that leg. The hammer price during that 2012 Keeneland September Yearling Sale session was $425,000, a high price for Alto Racing agent Steven Young if the horse seriously injured himself — which, fortunately, he didn’t.
